There are differences between shear-to-cross line and shear-to-slitting line in many aspects, as follows:
Cutting direction
Shear-to-cross line: the metal sheet is cut horizontally, that is, the cutting direction is perpendicular to the length direction of the sheet, and the sheet is cut into a certain size according to the preset length.
Slitting line: the metal sheet is cut longitudinally, the cutting direction is parallel to the length direction of the sheet, and the wide sheet is cut into narrow strips.
Working principle
Shear-to-cross line: usually the sheet is cut horizontally by the relative movement of the upper and lower shearing knives, and the sheet is cut in the width direction by relying on a larger shear force.
Slitting line: the longitudinal cutting is carried out by the rotation of the disc blade and the movement of the sheet, and the sheet is rolled and slit by the disc blade.
Equipment structure

Shear-to-cross line: Generally, it is large and requires a large installation space. It is usually composed of unwinding device, leveling device, shearing device, stacking device, etc. to realize the functions of unwinding, leveling, cutting to length and stacking of the coiled plate.
Slitting line: It is relatively slender and suitable for continuous production. It is mainly composed of feeding device, cutting device, unloading device, winding device, etc., and the focus is on realizing the feeding, longitudinal cutting, waste edge processing and winding of the plate.
Operation and maintenance
Shear-to-cross line: The operation is relatively simple, mainly to set the parameters such as cutting length and control the operation and stop of the equipment, but the accuracy and hardness of the tool are required to be high to ensure the accuracy of the cutting size and the service life of the tool.
Slitting line: The operation is more complicated, and the parameters such as the gap and tension of the blade need to be adjusted to ensure the cutting quality. In terms of maintenance, in addition to the maintenance of the tool, the tension control system needs to be regularly inspected and maintained.
Application scenarios
Shear-to-length line: widely used in the construction industry to produce flat materials for construction, the electrical manufacturing industry to produce cut-to-length plates required for electrical housings, and the automobile manufacturing industry to produce body plates.
Slitting line: commonly used in the production of metal strips such as sealing strips and reinforcing ribs in automobile manufacturing, the production of metal packaging strips in the packaging industry, and the production of metal strips for electronic components in the electronics industry.
